About the artwork
A single orange balloon floats beside a seated woman in a tall black hat. Behind her, yellow and grey geometric patterns frame a pale rectangle, giving the portrait the feel of a small stage. Scattered grey marks on her light dress echo the patterned background, while the dark hat and chair anchor the composition.
The balloon suggests a celebration, but her expression remains thoughtful and reserved. This contrast between a festive setting and a quiet face gives the painting its particular mood. Warm orange and yellow are balanced by cool grey, cream and deep black, with the texture of the canvas visible through the painted surface.
Painted in oils on canvas mounted on MDF board. This original painting measures 50 × 50 × 0.3 cm and is supplied unframed.
