Between Emotion and Technique

Between Emotion and Technique

My teacher often reminds me, “For now, forget technique. I want to see your emotion.”

It’s an interesting path. First, we learn to bring our personality into our work. Only then do we refine technique. Every drawing carries something deeply individual because it reflects not only what we see, but also who we are.

Right now, I find myself at that crossroads. I want to strengthen my technique, because an artist never stops learning, while also making sure that emotion remains visible. Perhaps the real challenge is not choosing one over the other, but allowing them to grow together.
